Mobility and internships
CEEPUS supports academic mobility in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, contributes to European integration, and places particular emphasis on regional specificities. The programme facilitates cooperation between Slovak and foreign higher education institutions through the establishment of academic networks within which research cooperation is carried out and mobility opportunities are provided for students, doctoral students, and higher education teachers.
A key priority is the development of joint study programmes leading to double or joint degrees as well as the joint supervision of master's theses and doctoral dissertations. Within the CEEPUS programme, it is also possible to organise study visits, summer schools, coordination meetings, and language courses, which complement professional and research cooperation among partner universities.

Erasmus+ is a European Union programme supporting activities in the fields of education, vocational education and training, youth, and sport during the 2021–2027 programming period. The programme offers opportunities for learning mobility in higher education and is open to students, academic staff, and other higher education institution staff.
Individual mobility in higher education falls under Key Action 1 (KA1) – Learning Mobility of Individuals. Students may:
study abroad at a partner higher education institution;
undertake a traineeship abroad at a company, research institution, laboratory, organisation, or other relevant institution;
combine a study period abroad with a traineeship, thereby further enhancing their learning outcomes and developing their transversal skills.
The action also supports the participation of higher education teachers and administrative staff in professional development activities abroad, including teaching assignments, training courses, job shadowing, and similar activities.
In addition, the action supports Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), which combine physical and virtual (online) mobility.

National Scholarship Programme
The establishment of the National Scholarship Programme (NSP) of the Slovak Republic to support the mobility of students, doctoral students, higher education teachers, researchers, and artists was approved by the Government of the Slovak Republic in 2005. The National Scholarship Programme is funded by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic. The scholarships are intended for students and doctoral students enrolled at Slovak higher education institutions, including doctoral students whose doctoral studies are carried out at an external educational institution within the meaning of the Higher Education Act, such as the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS). The scholarships are designed to cover living expenses associated with a study stay undertaken during the second cycle of higher education (master’s or equivalent degree programmes), as well as study or research stays undertaken during doctoral studies at a selected foreign higher education institution or research organisation. The National Scholarship Programme of the Slovak Republic also supports the mobility of foreign students, doctoral students, higher education teachers, researchers, and artists by providing opportunities for study, teaching, research, and artistic stays at Slovak higher education institutions and research organisations.
International Mobility Opportunities for Students
Contemporary higher education provides students with a broad range of opportunities to undertake study, and scholarship stays at universities and higher education institutions worldwide. Various mobility programmes are offered through international and national offices, institutions, and agencies. The duration of a student mobility period is determined by the specific requirements and conditions of the relevant international programme or scholarship scheme and may extend to a maximum of one academic year. Comprehensive information on the available opportunities for mobility at foreign universities is provided by the Slovak Academic Information Agency (SAIA) at http://www.saia.sk/sk/.
Students may also undertake a study period at a foreign university through programmes administered and published by the Slovak Academic Association for International Cooperation (SAAIC).

SPICE Programme
Students of the Faculty can participate in the SPICE (Student Programme of Integrated Company Education) project. This initiative is a joint project of the Automotive Industry Association of the Slovak Republic and the national development project AZU.sk. SPICE is a national project of the Slovak Republic that brings together industrial companies and students of technical higher education institutions. Its primary objective is to provide students with the opportunity to complete a minimum three-month professional internship within a company, combined with the preparation of their final thesis. The project is supported by technologically and technically oriented faculties of partner higher education institutions. Students in the first and second years of engineering studies at technically oriented higher education institutions are eligible to participate in the SPICE project of the Automotive Industry Association of the Slovak Republic. Participation enables students to apply and further develop their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a real-world industrial environment while simultaneously preparing a high-quality master’s thesis.
SPICE – How to Participate?
- The company prepares an offer for students, including internship opportunities and/or topics for final theses.
- The offer is published on the faculty’s website and official Facebook page.
- Students interested in participating in the programme may contact the company representatives directly.
- The terms and conditions of the student’s placement within the company are agreed between the student and the company representative without the involvement of the faculty.
- The company selects suitable candidates and contacts them with an offer of an internship.
- Following an agreement with the company, the faculty approves the final thesis topic and appoints an academic supervisor.
- Subsequently, the company and the faculty conclude an agreement governing the student’s placement within the company for a period of one semester (typically the winter semester for second-year engineering students).
- Upon completion of the internship, the company evaluates the student using an assessment form provided by the FVT Study Department.
